| Term | Definition |
| Profiles | Your profile is the information you give about yourself when you sign up for a social networking site. As well as a picture, you can include your interests and passions such as your love of Russian literature, knitting and The Carpenters. Don’t have any interests? Make them up. |
| Push / pull technology | Pull technology is when you ask for information such as requesting a video on YouTube. Push technology on the other hand refers to you receiving information whether you want it or not. Think TV advertising. There’s always the off switch we suppose. |
| Reach | Reach is the number of unique users, stated as a percentage of the target market, who have viewed an online advertisement (like a banner ad). Reach is also what you do if you swallow cat hair. |
| Read feeder | An read feeder, newsreader or aggregator, is a bit of software which collects news from websites, blogs, podcasts and vlogs and delivers them to your PC in a simple format. It is also the name of an Arnie Schwarzenegger character. Oiill be back. |
| Reciprocal linking | The mutually beneficial arrangement of linking two sites together is known as reciprocal linking. Google uses PageRank when it looks at the quality of the sites that are linked to you. So, when Saucy Sue’s swingers site want to get involved in some reciprocal linking – just say no. |
