Here for the first time, in our fabulous Online PR and Social Media Glossary (phew), are our slightly tongue-in-cheek definitions for all the latest buzzwords doing the rounds.

(And writing them kept the immediate future team amused for at least a whole afternoon!)

Term	Definition
Landing Page	A bit like Alice in Wonderland, a landing page is where a site visitor will end up when they click on a link or online advertisement. Not necessarily the home page, the landing page will reflect the content of the ad and be highly targeted. Curiouser and curiouser.

Link equity	See link popularity

Link exchange	Link exchange means exchanging links with other quality websites to increase link popularity. A link exchange marketing campaign includes exchanging links with a website that is related to your company’s product or service. I’ll scratch yours if you scratch mine.

Link Farms	Link farms are web pages that have been built to increase the number of incoming links to a website in the hope of increasing search engine rankings. However, search engines think link farms are bad. Unlike Linkin Park who are a nu metal/hip hop band and are cool.

Link popularity	Link popularity refers to the quantity and quality of external links linking to a website. The more quality links there are the higher up the search engine rankings the site will appear. No external links and the search engine will assume your website is a Billy-no-mates.
