| Link rot | Link rot is when links on a site become irrelevant or broken as the pages they are linking to have moved, been deleted or the content is no longer relevant. Not quite like foot rot but just as annoying. |
| Linkbaiting | Linkbaiting is all about having good linkbaits on your site or blog which encourages a heap of other sites to link to it. Linkbaits are good, funny, controversial and newsworthy content which reel in those links. Linkbaiting sort of sound like a bad thing but it isn’t. |
| Links | A hypertext connection between two websites or two web pages is known as a hyperlink or link. An example is the search engine results page which lists links to websites. The search engines will also look for good quality incoming links when they rate your site. Known as the ‘links effect’. |
| List broker | A list broker sells or rents lists of information, normally mailing or email addresses, which can be used for targeted marketing campaigns. Use only a reputable list broker with an up-to-date list of opt-in email addresses - otherwise you’ll be accused of spamming. You have been warned. |
| Long Tail | Named after the shape created in a demand curve graph, Long Tail refers to the idea that if enough specialists, alternative and independent products are sold collectively they’ll make up a market to challenge the blockbusters. Long Tail is also one of the Dragons in Harry Potter. |

Pareto PrincipleThe Pareto principle, named after the Italian economist, is also know as the 80/20 rule. It refers to the fact that 80% of your results stem from 20% of your actions or 80% of your outcomes come from 20% of your inputs. So basically stop faffing and concentrate on the stuff that works.
