Here for the first time, in our fabulous Online PR and Social Media Glossary (phew), are our slightly tongue-in-cheek definitions for all the latest buzzwords doing the rounds.

(And writing them kept the immediate future team amused for at least a whole afternoon!)

Term Definition
Virtual communityA virtual community is an online community who share a common interest or ideas via email, blogs, chat rooms and newsgroups. Like real communities in the olden days before ASBOs, chavs, and reality TV. 
 
Virtual worldA virtual world is an online simulated world like Second Life where your online self (an avatar) can interact with other residents in real time and can attend virtual events. Interestingly, Avatars are always better looking than the real person.
 
VlogVlog or Vblog. Short for videoblog. Refers to a blog that has video content. Vlog is also a big, beefy potato farmer from the Ukraine.
