| Term | Definition |
| Web 2.0 | Web 1.0 was created by a few people for the masses. Web 2.0 is being created by the people for the people using second generation web based services such as blogs, wikis and social networks. It’s a brave new world out there people. |
| Web analytics | Web analytics is the process of collecting data about the activities of visitors to your website. How they found you; what they bought; what pages they looked at; what they downloaded; what they had for breakfast. That sort of thing. |
| Web feed | Feeds or web feeds, such as RSS or Atom, allow you to read, listen or watch new content on a blog or a website without having to revisit that site. It’s a bit like getting a take-out when you can’t be bothered to go the actual restaurant. |
| Weblog | Although now being used by businesses, a weblog or blog is more often than not a frequently updated personal online journal kept by a blogger. Entries or posts are in reverse chronological order and can be insightful, witty and philosophical. Or maybe not. |
| Widget | A Widget is a piece of code that enables you to pull in data from another website onto your own site or blog which is then constantly updated. For example, news headlines; local weather; footie scores. So all the really important stuff you need to keep up to date with. |
